Update: If you sweat a lot. Always expect fogging regardless of eye protection equipment brand. Attempt getting high protection glasses for they have better ventilation
I bought two goggles here the Black NVG and the Tan LandOps goggles. When I got them, they both came in a box and seemed to have all the correct manual and packing. Now I decided to compare the LandOps goggle with the one featured on ESS site and right away I noticed something different. The foam on the ESS site shows it to be a opencell foam and the one I had were closed cell. I noticed for the Black NVG, the black one on the ESS site features the flaps/wings with a slightly gray color as oppose to the solid black. The foam seemed correct for the NVG.
So I decided to email ESS to get a verification. That's when I got shocking news: they said they couldn't verify it because Amazon isn't an authorized reseller and they understood that replica made goggles are hard to identified depending on the month it was made. I replied to the email and stated some more about the products and stated the box bottom has 8/12 printed and asked if based on that they could verify or not if the foam and so on could be made during that time. Again, the ESS rep emailed me and told me they had no way of knowing, and had no idea what 8/12 meant on the bottom of the box.
Being a bit bummed, I decided to do some in home tests. I'm talking about hammers, and ramming the goggles into the side of a edge on a desk really hard, and no matter what I did, the goggles didn't break. It scratched up pretty good with the hammer though and that's to be expected. Still a bit bummed, I decided to actually order from the ESS site. I ordered the exact same LandOps goggle from their site, and I ordered the tan colored NVG instead of the black I bought off Amazon. I got them all in a week, and SURPRISE, the packing are exactly the same. I flipped over the box to look at the bottom, and what does it say on the bottom? 8/12 is what it says. Both goggles matches both goggles I bought off Amazon with very small differences in the NVG but since they were different color I decided that it's probably due to that. For example, the tan NVG I bought off ESS has the word APEL printed on the side. The sticker appears applied post manufacturer and the black goggles I had didn't have that printed on the side. Otherwise, all the markings and so on are exactly the same. The lenses could be interchanged and have the exact same markings, notches, and thickness.
Overall I am very angry at ESS. I spent a lot of money but I did get four cool goggles and a neat sunglass out of it but overall I just can't believe ESS can't verify its own product. That is a first for me since usually if I have doubts or questions, I can call up some company, and they'd quickly tell me if it's good to go or normal. It seems like ESS has really horrible customer service.
The goggles itself are really good. I bought both the NVG and LandOps to take me to the range with. The NVG is when I wear contacts, and the LandOps when I wear glasses. A couple times at the range, when I wear safety glasses, a loose shell somehow finds it way between the glass's arm and get near my eyes. A few close calls and I decided I wanted a goggle to have full protection all around my eyes. I'm very happy with the goggles and used them a few times already with great success. The even better news is that I can wear them without getting in the way of my hearing protection. I can put the sleeves around my ear muffs and it actually aids in it sitting there tighter so that is a huge plus. Overall I would recommend these goggles but be warned, Amazon isn't an authorized reseller so if you are in the military or want to use these for actual gun/safety work, be sure to buy from a good source. I haven't bought a thing off Amazon yet that is fake, BUT I just couldn't get over ESS didn't seemed to want to hear or even want to verify that what you have is real or not.

Finally, I've stopped my choice on these ESS Profile NVG. What better protection than the ones that is worn by our soldiers overseas and by our police tactical/swat teams and so on...
They are really well made and come with a set of lenses. The clear lens is already mounted into the eyewear and the smoked/black one is in a little protective pocket.
I didn't test the ballistic caracteristic of these lenses but you can see a lot of videos on YouTube about it! (Search for: "ESS Ballistic test") :)
They have a great fit on the cheekbones and no fog at all comes into the lenses... All the heat is taken away from the filtered top and bottom of the goggles.
Also comes in the package, a transportation pocket for your goggles with MOLLE attachement in the back to fit on your backpack or tactical vest.
As previously said by a user on Amazon.com, these are not Night Vision Goggles (obviously!) but they are compatible with Night Vision Goggles that can fit over the lens. That means that the lenses from these goggles are able to let the light source from the NVG pass through and get to your eyes.
Bought them in special @ 94$ free shipping no taxes directly from "Off Kilter Sports" which is a US dealer that sells through the Amazon.ca website.
So no taxes, no shipping fees, no import fees... Perfect!
